8 Reasons

#1 Ask a Question

Did you know asking a reader a question immediately engages them?

Questions enter an instant dialogue with users, making them more likely to be opened.

In other words, make your subscribers go “hmmm..” and ask a question to quickly get them involved.

#2 Numbers Work!

People love listicles. So much so that they’ll engage even if it’s just to quickly skim through.

I mean, think about it…what prompted you to read this post? Because you knew you’d leave with seven new or reminded ways of improving your email open rates.

You knew the expected outcome and that it would be an easy read.

Your subscribers will think the same!

#3 Share the Benefit

Your subscribers want to know what’s in it for them. How will they gain or benefit from this.

#5 Spice. It. Up.

Bring your subject line to life by adding some flavor, color, and/or emotion to it. Emoji's do help.Thing is, be sure to use it along with one of the tips shared in this post.

Also, descriptive and emotional words go a long way in tugging at your reader’s fingertips to click.

Finally, put your personality and swagger on it! When people skim their inbox and come across your subject line, they should know it’s from you.

Add humor every now and then! Subject lines that trigger emotions always win.

#5 Keep it Concise!

For the most part, people are checking their emails on their phones. A long subject line can get cut off.

Keep it short, punchy, and to the point. Ideally, you want to keep your subject line less than 30 characters long.

As you get better, aiming for 15-20 characters would be exceptional!

#6 Use FOMO…butc

AKA, the fear of missing out, these work wonders in boosting your email open rates. People fear not being in the know, missing out on a great deal, or getting left behind.

Email subject lines that include “last chance” or “just in case you missed it” moves people to action.

Use this tactic to your advantage but don’t over do it. Using scarcity too much could have the opposite effect.

#7 Be yourself and stay authentic always

Test, Test, Test!

To wrap it up, it’s important to test what’s working and what isn’t with your audience. Review your analytics daily to discover what’s resonating and driving results, and throw out what isn’t.

With consistency, email marketing can create some powerful results for your business.

Much success!
